Ember

I was up on a ridge, crossing over from ʻĀina Haina on a cloudy, slightly windy day. On the way down, I almost missed a large ʻōhiʻa just off the trail. When I looked over, I saw orange lehua blooming across the whole tree.

I’d seen ʻōhiʻa in bloom before, but this was one of the first times the orange had looked so vivid to me. I stopped to photograph this cluster with the mountain soft behind it.
