I knew these islands, but a shrub framed them from a stretch of ridge I had never walked.

Story
On a stretch of the Koʻolau I had never walked before, I looked out across the blue water and saw Nā Mokulua in the distance.
A shrub partly crossed the view, its leaves framing the islands in a way I hadn’t seen before. I stopped to photograph them through it. I knew those islands, but I was seeing them from a part of the ridge I was only just getting to know.
